Güliz Gürel is an interdisciplinary artist and scientist working across image, print, video and installation. She holds a PhD in Biophysical Chemistry from Yale University, and her scientific background informs a practice concerned with how we perceive and orient ourselves within the world.

Her work begins with photography and layered image construction, which she develops through large-format printing, hand-painted intervention, moving image and spatial installation. Across recent projects, she has explored how light and belief shape our experience of landscape and time.

Gürel draws on ways of thinking developed through both science and art, observation and experimentation, to make otherwise unseen patterns visible. Her works often reveal structures that are already present but easily overlooked, from bodies orienting toward a shared point to landscapes transformed by changing light.

She lives and works between London and Abu Dhabi.
